Six Leaf Pack workshops were conducted within the mid-Atlantic region and Leaf Pack went to conferences in St. Paul, Minnesota, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Baltimore, Maryland. 13 scientists and two educators went to Peru, to conduct research in the headwaters of the Amazon River.

Expanding the New York City Watershed Leaf Pack Network

Riverkeeper, Stroud Water Research Center, and Hudson Basin River Watch partnered to implement a program to harness kids’ fascination with bugs in order to measure water quality in the New York City Drinking Water Supply Watershed.

Patrick Green, sophomore at Chamande High School in Mineola, New York, won first place at Chamande Science Fair this year. Patrick used the Leaf Pack Experiment to study a local stream. This is the second consecutive year that he has won first place!

Professor Wangari Maathai, 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Winner and founder of GBM, took the first Leaf Pack Kit to Kenya in 2002 and her staff ran with it. In 2003, three schools successfully implemented the Leaf Pack Experiment into their science classes!
